The Aorta is fine!

[BY SUSAN]

WHEW!  We've been waiting for this last little bit of diagnostic information, and the news is good.  Peter is down in radiation right now getting the scans that will set up his radiation treatment.  It looks like it will all start next Tuesday...so one more week of waiting.

  3. Peter, I'm really sorry to hear about all this, but at the same time glad it's something you can get through, especially with all the friends and support you have. That's a powerful force for good. Following Susan's suggestion, I'm going to see if I can't find some esoteric (and maybe funny) stuff to surprise you with over the next few months, musical or otherwise. I know it won't be easy, since most of what I "discover" will be old hat to you, but let's see what I can do. Best of luck seeing this through. I expect in a year you'll be "normal" again, playing music behind the house, leaner and meaner than ever.

  4. Bill, thanks for the good words. For other readers of this blog, Bill Henderson, or William McCranor Henderson(billhendersononline.com), is a talented, insightful, humorous writer who has written some of my favorite books. His novel "I Killed Hemingway" is a darkly comical romp into the worlds of celebrity and popular culture. "I Elvis; Confessions of a Counterfeit King" was about Bill's ventures into the world of Elvis imitators, or "tribute artists", as they like to be called. Clad in jumpsuits, wigs, and blackened chest hair, he became a credible Elvis and did well in competitions. For about a year, some of my musician friends (Lew Wardell, Jeff Thomas, Mary Rocap, Linda Phillips, Mike Bisdee, Cliff Cox) and I backed up Bill at festival performances to promote the book, a very fondly-remembered experience.

Bill grew up in and currently lives in Chapel Hill with his wife Carol (carolhenderson.com). Both are excellent teachers of all types of writing: fiction, creative nonfiction, journals, profiles/features, et.al.- Peter K
